In May 2024, we embarked on a memorable journey to New York City, exploring its iconic landmarks and hidden gems. Our adventure began at Little Island, a unique urban park on the Hudson River. We then visited the somber yet poignant John Lennon Murder Site and Strawberry Fields in Central Park, a peaceful tribute to the legendary musician.

The Intrepid Museum offered an intriguing glimpse into maritime and aviation history, while the Pier 57 Rooftop Park provided stunning views of the city. At Genesis House, we discovered an unexpected oasis in the heart of Manhattan. Another highlight was Vista Point, where we enjoyed breathtaking panoramas of the cityscape.

We ventured to the bustling Whitehall Terminal before indulging in a delicious meal at the hidden gem, burger joint. The Smorgasburg WTC food market tantalized our taste buds with a variety of international cuisines, and dining at Tamam, Punjabi Deli, and the historic Nom Wah Tea Parlor in Chinatown were culinary highlights.

Exploring Central Park, we marveled at the Alice in Wonderland statue and the Imagine Mosaic at Strawberry Fields. The expansive Great Lawn provided a serene escape from the city's hustle and bustle.

The cultural treasures of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and The Museum of Modern Art captivated us, showcasing art from around the world. We admired the architectural splendor of the Rockefeller Center, the St. Patrick’s Cathedral, and the iconic Radio City Music Hall.

Evenings were spent in vibrant locales like The Back Room, a Prohibition-era speakeasy, and strolling along the High Line, a beautifully repurposed elevated rail track. Times Square dazzled with its neon lights, and Grand Central Terminal, along with the Apple Grand Central store, offered a blend of historic and modern experiences.

The Staten Island Ferry provided scenic views of the Statue of Liberty and the Manhattan skyline. In Lower Manhattan, we wandered through Little Italy and Chinatown, with their rich cultural atmospheres. The futuristic Oculus World Trade Center and the solemn 9/11 Memorial & Museum left lasting impressions.

We also explored Brooklyn, with stops at Jane’s Carousel, the Stairs to the Brooklyn Bridge, and York St. Back in Manhattan, the 34 St-Herald Sq was a bustling hub, and the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Library was a haven for book lovers. The Charging Bull at Wall Street and a slice at Front Street Pizza added to the quintessential New York experience.

To top it all off, we enjoyed a drink with a view at 230 Fifth, visited the Tenement Museum to learn about immigrant history, and relaxed at our base, the Hyatt Place Midtown-South.

This trip was a perfect blend of history, culture, and modernity, offering unforgettable experiences at every turn. New York City truly lived up to its reputation as the city that never sleeps!
